Thanksgiving

I have noticed that often my cards with red/orange colors photograph as pink. I don't yet have a light box or designated area for photography but am hoping that issue will disappear once I do.

Here is a sample of my Thanksgiving card for 2012. I was new at die cutting and was having a tough time matching up the stamps and dies when I put them through the Big Shot cutter. I also added machine stitching to the card including sewing on the buttons. I don't like "naked" buttons on cards and this was simpler for me than adding twine to each button.

Summer Fun Tote Bags

Summer Fun Totes

My niece, Sarah, asked me to make large tote bags for her three daughters that would be used for a vacation to Daytona Beach, FL. Tote bags are simple to make and did not require a pattern. Each has a zippered closure with plenty of pockets inside and outside. The bags are lined with companion fabric. I purchased plastic handbag inserts from Lazy Girl Designs that could be slipped into a slot I designed into the bottom of the bag so they would stand up on their own even when empty (as demonstrated in the photos). The handles are nylon strapping for durability and strength. I trimmed the exterior pockets with ribbon and added a length of knotted ribbon to the zipper pull. I machine embroidered each girl's given name on each bag. Once the plastic insert is removed, these bags can be laundered and dried by machine.
