Let's Celebrate!

Today is the last day for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #370. This is a weekly challenge that begins on Mondays. I love using flowers on cards but have been trying to use other elements just for a change.

Onto a white card base, I added a panel of blue cardstock and then a die-cut panel of patterned paper sliced in keeping with the sketch. I liked the little butterflies fluttering about, using a white gel pen to emphasize their paths. I die cut the balloons from white cardstock and then sponged them for color, adding Wink of Stella for a little shine. The balloons were added with foam tape and the strings were hand-cut and glued directly to the card. Some tiny iridescent gems were added for sparkle. The sentiment was stamped, die-cut and matted then added with foam tape. The inside was decorated with additional balloons and hand-drawn strings.
Be sure to visit the AHSC Blog to join the weekly sketch challenges. You'll be glad you did!

Congrats - Say It with Flowers

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #369 closes today, Sunday, May 24, 2020. I wanted to play along so hurried to finish my card because time was running out! I am also going to use this sketch as inspiration for another card that will not be submitted for this challenge.
A die-cut panel of black cardstock was adhered to a pink card base, followed by a die-cut floral panel. I added a length of black satin ribbon and stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of white The die-cut circles were stacked and adhered together and attached to the card front with foam tape. The inside was lined with white cardstock and decorated with a piece of a die-cut circle in black.

Just Flyin' By...

With Father's Day almost here plus a few family birthdays, I have been making masculine cards. I made this card in response to the Tictactoe Challenge #065. I selected the second row - Blue, Square and Outdoors.
I trimmed the navy blue cardstock to a 5" x 5" square card base and added a few panels. I have been whittling away at my huge paper stash so I chose two patterned papers for this card. The final two panels were added using foam tape along with the sentiment. The inside was decorated with coordinating paper. I kept the card low profile for ease of mailing.
Be sure to visit the TTTC065 Blog and play along with the challenge. The weekly challenges begin on Thursdays.

To a Stand-up Friend - Masculine Birthday

Another biweekly Tictactoe Color Challenge began today, Friday, May 22. Color My Heart Color Dare #395 runs through Thursday evening, June 4, 2020. The rules are simple - just pick a row from the Tictactoe board below and use those colors on a paper crafting project. Once you have decided on the three-in-a-row colors, you may add additional colors from the grid. Only colors that appear on the board are acceptable. Black, white, silver and gold may be used as neutrals. I selected the first column, Eggplant, Peacock and Sage then included Linen and Charcoal (light).

Onto the card base, I added a simple frame stamped with a design. The Meerkats were stamped and colored with Copic markers. The sentiment was stamped. Two strips were added across the card front and the focal image was added with foam tape. Enamel dots finished off the card front. The inside was lined with cardstock and decorated with a stamped Meerkat and a birthday sentiment.
Be sure to visit the Color My Heart Color Dare #395 Blog to review the challenge requirements and to join in the challenge!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

May 21, 2020 Update:

Certain members of our family are baseball fans, which led me to create this card. I used this paper collection once before and the scraps have been around for a long time. I was inspired by Tictactoe Challenge #064, selecting the top left to right diagonal row - Sport, Patterned Paper & Punched Shape. This challenge is weekly, beginning every Thursday.
I adhered a few panels of baseball-themed paper to a panel of red cardstock. I had a scrap of paper with a cluster of baseballs and stars so merely used a 2" circle punch. This was adhered with foam tape for dimension, followed by the sentiment, which was cut from the patterned paper. The sentiment was backed with a red cardstock banner. A few punched stars were added to the upper right corner. The completed card front was added to an off-white card base. The inside was decorated with a scrap of coordinating paper and three punched stars.
This isn't exactly CAS but it was definitely quick and easy. I hope to play along with this challenge more often since discovering it. Be sure to visit the TTTC064 Blog for challenge fun!

Arrrgh... You're a Treasure

Today marks the beginning of Double Trouble Challenge #57, "Brown Bag-It Day". This biweekly challenge will end on Sunday evening, May 31, 2020.  There are three "Things" to the challenge:

Thing 1 (required): Trouble Maker wants to see Kraft paper (or a paper bag) on your projects. Visit the challenge blog for inspiration and clarification.

Thing 2 (optional): Double Dare dares you to link your project to Crafting Happiness. Because these are weekly challenges, you may create something for either or both Challenge #49 and Challenge #50. Be sure to check their guidelines, too. This blog posting is for Challenge #49. The project for Challenge #50 will be available on May 25, 2020.

Update: Here is the link to Crafting Happiness #50.  To sethe card I submitted, click HERE.

Thing 3 (optional): Twisted Sister hopes you will include a favorite item or toy from childhood. I am still in possession of a small chest that was given to me by my mother. The clasp and hinges are showing their age but my little chest held special treasures so I created this pirate card and included a treasure chest.
I hope to see your projects posted at Double Trouble Challenge #57 and Crafting Happiness #49!

Just for You

A combination of two challenges led me to create this card. Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 367, a weekly challenge, began on Monday, May 4, and will end on Sunday evening, May 10, 2020.
Color My Heart Color Dare #393, a biweekly challenge, began on Friday, May 8, and will end on Thursday evening, May 21, 2020. This particular challenge is Tictactoe, requiring three colors in a row. Players are also permitted to add any additional colors from the board plus black and white. My additional colors are Green Apple and Lagoon. The use of colors not on the board will disqualify your project.
Following the sketch, I layered multiple patterned papers to a red card base. This was followed by the matted rectangle and banners using foam tape for dimension. The butterfly and small sentiment were stamped and punched, the white stitching was added and these elements were added to the card front. (A small sentiment was a sketch requirement.) A few pearls were added. The inside was decorated using coordinating paper and a punched butterfly.
Stop by the AHSC Blog and the Color Dare Blog to learn more about these challenges.

Happy Birthday - Flip Flap Fold

Update 06/07/2020: This card was in the Top Three at The Joy of Sets #017.
During the stay-at-home period due to the pandemic, a friend of mine, Tracey, is having weekly gatherings via Zoom. This week all the attendees made a card using the same fold but with our own colors and papers.
I decided to submit this card to the May challenge at Joy of Sets Tictactoe Challenge #017. This monthly challenge began on Saturday, May 2, 2020. I selected the diagonal from upper left to lower right: Birthday, Things that Fly, and Sponging.
I also included this card at Double Trouble Challenge #56.
I have been told this fold is called a Pull Tab Flip Flap but there are several other names for it. After making the card, I found a helpful tutorial HERE. As for details, the butterflies were stamped, sponged, and punched then touched up with a Copic marker. The smaller card on the card front was also stamped and sponged. Rhinestones were added. The inside was lined with a panel of white cardstock. It was decorated with another butterfly. The inside sentiment was die cut twice - once in pink and once in black to provide a shadow. The ribbon was added to the pull tab.
It seems as if I always need feminine birthday cards but this card fold could be made for any occasion or person. I liked making this card so will probably use this fold again.

Happy Birthday

Join me for a fun biweekly challenge beginning today, Monday, May 4, through Sunday evening, May 17, 2020. Following is a summary of Double Trouble Challenge #56. For precise details, visit the challenge blog.
Part of this challenge includes the option to link your card to the Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge #17. I selected Birthday, Things that Fly and Sponging.
Using Staz-on Jet Black ink the birds were stamped onto white cardstock. The image was filled in with a black ink marker. Ensuring the ink was dry, three colors of dye ink were sponged onto the image. This was trimmed down and matted with black cardstock. A panel of patterned paper was added to a black card base and the focal point was added using foam tape. I adhered pearls and the die-cut sentiment. The inside was lined with white cardstock and decorated with matching patterned paper.
Join us for these two fun challenges. Here are links to DTC56 and JOSTTT017.
