Thing 3: Twisted Sister is celebrating the Summer Solstice, which began in the Northern Hemisphere on June 21, 2026, and marked the first day of the summer season. This day is often called the "Longest Day" because we will have more hours of daylight than on any other day of the year. Twisted Sister's option is to use fireworks to celebrate the Longest Day. A little glitter or sparkle will help your card pop!
This card has an overlay plus holographic paper and silver metallic cardstock to add shine.

Double Dare is offering a sketch from Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge #698, shown below. This biweekly challenge runs from Tuesday, June 23, through Sunday, July 5, 2026, at noon (ET). You will be eligible for yet another chance in the random drawing if you use this sketch for the Double Trouble Challenge.
The TSOT sketch was used as inspiration for the Double Trouble card.

The inside was stamped with "May your day be filled with yay!" and a few small silver stars.

The Design Team has an array of cards available for your review at the Double Trouble Blog. We invite you to take a look and hope you gather inspiration to join the challenge with us.

Sending Love Across the Miles (CD #708)

Greetings! Today, my card was inspired by a biweekly color challenge, Color Dare #708. The color board is below. This challenge began on Friday, June 12, 2026, and runs through Thursday, June 25, 2026. The requirement is to use at least two of the colors. I used all three colors and included a few neutrals.

A sketch was not used - I just started cutting and assembling. A cut-apart that coordinates with the floral paper provides the sentiment. It was added with foam tape to bring in some dimension. The inside of the card was decorated with a fussy-cut dragonfly and a few scraps of paper.

The Design Team invites you to visit the Color Dare Challenge Blog and view their array of cards. Simply follow the guidelines, then share your card. We hope you'll join us.

Thank you for visiting.
Melanie

Happy Retirement (TSOT #697)

So glad you visited my blog today! Today's post announces the beginning of a biweekly challenge - Try a Sketch on Tuesday #697. This sketch runs from Tuesday, June 9, 2026, through Sunday, June 21, 2026, at noon.

The task is simply to use the sketch below for inspiration, and then interpret it into a greeting card or another papercraft item.

I grew up on the Florida beaches and never tire of the sounds and smells of the sea. As I shopped my stash for inspiration, I found materials well suited to this challenge. I enjoy using scraps, but many of these elements were in an unused paper collection from Club Scrap.

Cutting the pieces and assembling the card were basic card-making tasks. The strips were cut from glitter paper (gold), coordinating with the yellow gold in the patterned paper. The focal image was part of a cut-apart that I trimmed with a wavy-edged die, then matted it with two layers and adhered it with foam tape. The sentiment was popped up with foam tape as well.

The inside was decorated with a few small bits of ephemera that coordinate with the collection. To finish the card, I added a few enamel dots.

Double Trouble Challenge #218 is also open. If you use the TSOT sketch above and enter your work at Double Trouble, you will earn a chance in their random drawing. Just be sure to read their guidelines before creating your card.

King for the Day (DTC #218)

Greetings! It's time to explore a new 3-2-1 Recipe Challenge from Double Trouble. This is biweekly Challenge #218, opening on Monday. June 8, 2026, and closing on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at noon, Eastern time.

Trouble Maker has provided us with the new recipe for the challenge, "My Guy." Following is a summary of how I incorporated the elements into my card.

INCLUDE AT
LEAST
3  Washi tape or patterned strips.
Four patterned strips were added to the card.

2 Die-cut Elements
There is one die-cut deer and a die-cut circle.

1 Masculine-themed Card
The card was created with "masculine" paper and images.

OPTIONS
Twisted Sister wants to know more about a special man in my life.
This year, Father's Day is celebrated on Sunday, June 21. I only have one brother, David, who is alive with children, so this card is for him. David has two grown sons. They enjoy hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. Last Father's Day, I created a card for David with a fishing theme, so this year I went with a deer theme, though the focus isn't specifically on hunting.

Double Dare is offering a sketch from Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge #697, shown below. This biweekly challenge runs from Tuesday, June 9, through Sunday, June 21, 2026, at noon (ET). You will be eligible for yet another chance in the random drawing if you also use this sketch for the Double Trouble Challenge.
The TSOT sketch was used to create the Double Trouble card.

To create my card for Double Trouble #218, I gathered masculine-themed papers from my stash. The strips were matted with cardstock to provide a shadow. The die-cut deer was added onto a trimmed die-cut circle. A bit of ephemera was used for the sentiment. The sentiment and circle were adhered using foam tape for dimension. The inside of the card was lined with white cardstock and decorated with a die-cut deer and ephemera to create a banner.

The Design Team has an array of cards available for your review at the Double Trouble Blog. We invite you to take a look and hope you gather inspiration to create a few cards as well.

Thank you,
Melanie
