Sunset in the Marsh

Today's post is a card for the Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 Challenge #163. These challenges use digital images, so I downloaded an image, "The Mallards," then added the same image again and rotated it horizontally to create a reflection in the water.

The image was colored with Spectrum Noir markers then heat embossed with clear powder. The reflection was colored in with gray and beige tones. Using Naturals White cardstock, I sponged it to look as if it were sunset. I like this cardstock for the scene because it has slubs of texture and color, lacking the smoothness of Whisper White.

The remainder of the scene was sponged with dye inks. Using a tissue, I wiped the dye ink off of the embossed image. I purposely left the scene without background elements. The water was touched up with a white gel pen. The scene was then popped up with a rectangle of Fun Foam.

  4. Wow Melanie this is the most perfect masculine card, especially for a man that loves shooting. Duck shooting season opened on the 2 May here in New Zealand. Love the reflection on the water very well done and what you've done with the background it's really lovely. This is a great card and thanks so much for sharing your talent with us over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 and good luck.
