Spring Birthday - CAS

My daughter-in-law has a birthday in May and the card will need to be mailed so I kept this design low profile. I chose to omit a sentiment from the front because I wanted to keep the card uncluttered. I like to make landscape cards with a side opening rather than a bottom opening because they are sturdier to stand up for display.

A panel of cardstock and a panel of DSP were adhered to the card base. Two ribbon banners were added. After die cutting two fancy labels, one was die cut again for the flowers, sponged, then adhered to the second, larger label. The piece was backed with foam tape and adhered to the DSP layer with the banners in the background. Enamel dots were added. The inside of the card was lined with a panel of white cardstock that was die cut with a flower, sponged and an enamel dot.

The colors were selected based on the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge #297.

The design was inspired by the Fab Friday Sketch Challenge #85.

  1. Great center on those flowers and the touches of ribbon give good texture behind your flower panel...thanks for playing along with the Pals color challenge this week!

  2. What fun shapes to put together! And I so agree about the side-fold - I like to do that too, lol. Love your combo of ribbons. Thanks so much for playing at Fab Friday!

  3. Your daughter-in-law will love it. It's such a fun card! I'm so glad you played along with this week's Pals Paper Arts color challenge.

  4. Beautiful card Melanie! Love those little flowers and your layered ribbon. Perfectly created! :)

  5. Very cute! I love the flowers popped up like that! Love the colors too! Thanks for playing at Fab Friday!

  6. Love those popped up flowers - the ribbon adds a nice touch as well. Simple without being too plain but still eye catching. A perfect mix.

  7. Your flowers are really dimensional looking for being a mailable card! Well done! This is a card that can be displayed all spring...so sweet! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!

  8. Love all the layering and the color combination of this challenge, and great take on the sketch. I love the flowers, inside and out, with the with the enamel dots.

  9. So very pretty! Love the colors and those pretty flowers....definitely not a "flat" looking card.
