Just a Little Note (TSOT #669)

It's time again at Try a Sketch on Tuesday to create a card using the new sketch below. This is TSOT #669, ending on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

The card came together using the sketch and continuing to use elements from my stash. Foam tape was used to give dimension to the sentiment and the glass flower pot with the hyacinth inside. Tiny rhinestones were added for a bit of sparkle. The inside was lined with a white panel and decorated with coordinating ephemera.
The sketch may also provide ideas for the Double Trouble Challenge #190, so be sure to visit their blog.

Welcome, Easter Morning! (TSOT #668)

Welcome to my blog. I miss the peaceful transition from winter to spring that I remember from my time in Arizona. But I am pleased that in southeast Tennessee, signs of spring are popping up everywhere. My yard is a riot of color with tulips and hyacinths, and the irises will not be far behind. The rain followed by sunshine has done its work. And Easter will be here soon!

My card for TSOT Challenge #668 has a springlike Easter theme, although it is not required. I used the sketch below for inspiration. This biweekly challenge runs through Sunday, April 27,2025.

Using green cardstock for the card base, a matte of white was adhered, followed by panel of pink patterned paper. A triangle was cut from paper with colorful pastel butterflies matted with a green print. The stamp set that has been unused for a while came to mind when I was looking for floral inspiration for my card. I liked the "wonky" flowers. The leaves and flowers were stamped, colored, fussy-cut, and adhered with foam tape to the patterned layers.

The sentiment was stamped directly to the card front and the inside was lined with a panel of white cardstock and decorated with another flower. A coordinating greeting was included inside the card as well.

To view the Design Team's cards and join the challenge, visit the TSOT 668 Blog and be sure to look at our sister challenge, Double Trouble #189, too.

In addition, I submitted my card to Beautiful Blossoms Challenge #28

Wishing you a happy spring!

Spring - New Life & New Beauty (CD #647)

04/13/2025 Update: This card was a Weekly Favorite at Splitcoast Stampers.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. This is my card for a Color Dare Challenge. There are only two colors for this challenge, as shown on the color board below. I added gold foiled cardstock as an optional third color, in addition to using white. For guidelines, check out the Color Dare 647 Blog. This is a biweekly challenge running through Thursday, April 24, 2025.

The background was created with a stencil and adhered to an orange panel. Dies were used to cut the fancy gold ring, and the remaining elements were stamped, colored with Copic markers, and fussy-cut. A bit of green ink was applied to the edge of a plain white die-cut circle.

Once everything was adhered to the stenciled panel, the sentiment was stamped directly onto the card front. Three gold gems were added. A white card base was used. The inside of the base was decorated with coordinating fussy-cut flowers.

I also added this card to the Beautiful Blossoms Challenge #27.

Blue Elephant's Happy Day (TSOT #667)

Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge #667 is now available on the blog for your card-making pleasure. This biweekly challenge runs through Sunday, April 13, 2025, at noon, Eastern Time. Below is the sketch.

I took to the air to celebrate one of my favorite pastimes, flying, and to create a birthday card for my grandnephew. I chose to substitute other elements for the rainbow, heart, and splash.

Did you know there are blue elephants on our planet? I thought it would be fun to color him some other color than gray, so I looked it up.

To begin, a panel with clouds was created using a stencil, and small birds were stamped directly onto that panel. The images were stamped, colored with Copics, die-cut, and then adhered to the panel of clouds using foam tape.

The cloud panel was matted with orange cardstock and added to a blue card base. The interior was lined with a white panel and adorned with a small, free clip art image of an aircraft in silhouette.

For additional ideas, visit our sister challenge, Double Trouble #188, and you may win a prize in their random drawing.

The Design Team invites you to visit the TSOT 667 Blog and share your own interpretation of our sketch.

Thank you,
Melanie
