OK, so "Have a Hippo Birdie" is a bad pun for "Have a Happy Birthday". I know this card will work for just the right person's birthday.
My card is also serving as the DT entry for Double Trouble Challenge #10. Double Trouble's Double Dare option is to link to both of these challenges The Trouble Maker requirement is to use three colors and the biweekly optional twist is to use a pun. Double Trouble will accept projects back-dated to 09/07/2018, the date that Brown Sugar Challenge went live.
On a card base of light gray, panels of white and darker gray were adhered. The striped paper was adhered down the center front. The image was downloaded, resized, printed and colored. After trimming the image to an almost square, it was matted with pink cardstock, backed with foam tape and adhered to the card base. The sentiment was computer generated then backed with foam tape and adhered. The birds were stamped, colored, fussy cut and adhered. A fine black marker was used to draw the tiny legs on the birds. Clear Wink of Stella was added to all of the birds and the toes of the hippo.
Please join us for both challenges. There are plenty of creatures and silly puns to use as inspiration for your project. Visit Brown Sugar Challenge #282 for the challenge and browse the QKR Stampede Store and be sure to submit your creation to Double Trouble #10!

This Hippo is so competent in her pretty pink tutu and love the sentiment you created. Also using both Great and Small as a combination of creatures makes it all the more fun...I hear the birds chirping away "Hippo Birdie"
ReplyDeleteI love how you blended the coloring on your Hippo, Melanie. I especially love the pink belly! I have a few friends that would enjoy the fun sentiment you used as well :)
