Happy Birthday to Jean
Diamond Winner at Sue's Cricut Challenge!
My friend, Sue, is crazy about her new Cricut Explore. I have a Cricut Expression 2 but have not used it in several years, preferring to use my Sizzix Big Shot and die collection. Sue drew up a sketch and challenged me to make a card based on her sketch, using only my Cricut. Here is the result of that challenge, which is a birthday card for a family member. All the elements except the stamps were made using the Cricut. I borrowed a variety of cartridges from Sue to accomplish the feat. The most challenging part was fulfilling the 5" x 7" requirement. I am accustomed to making A2 size cards at 4.25" x 5.5" so the A7 seemed like a daunting task to fill the card with elements and without too much clutter. I had fun using the Cricut but I'm not ready to use it exclusively.
The products are from several sources and detailed below.
CTMH products: DSP from the "Brushed" paper pack (green print), Classy Doily stamp (coordinates with a Cricut doily cutting design)
SU! products: Cardstock in Whisper White, Strawberry Slush DSP Pack (dotted paper), Strawberry Slush ink (sponged onto yellow flowers)
Memento ink: Tuxedo Black
Ranger: Multi Medium Matte
My stash: Cardstock in yellow, white gauze ribbon, pearls, Fun Foam (to pop up the white doily piece and the sentiment tag)
Size: A7 (5" x 7")
Techniques: Paper piercing, sponging
Congratulations...you are the Diamond Winner of this challenge. Just challenging you to use the Cricut and A7 size card was quite challenging to me. But you did it...and I hope that you start using your Expression 2 when that one die won't satisfy the cut and size you need and hopefully more frequently...don't disqualify it for another three years.
ReplyDeleteMel this card is gorgeous. And I recognize a lot of the elements! Lol. You are so talented. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty Melanie! I love the layering and the colors. Your flowers are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow! Congrats on being the Diamond Winner of this challenge! The mandala gives your card a multicultural flair, and the green scrolling vines set off your flowers beautifully. I especially like the blossoms with their golden-peach color and delicate shading. The translucent white bow is perfection!
