03/15/2017 Update: Top Three winner at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #212.
I like the color pink but it is a color I rarely wear. I have never used it in home décor (I had no baby girls) but I love to use it when making cards. The layout of this bright pink card was inspired by a sketch. Using several cutting methods was the result of a challenge theme and the colors came from the scrap of patterned paper on the front. I can always use birthday cards, so it was also well-suited for the two birthday challenges.
A panel of bright pink cardstock was stamped with a grunge design and adhered to a black card base. The patterned paper was layered onto a panel of pink that had been cut with a border die, then adhered to a panel of black cardstock. This was backed with Dimensionals foam. In keeping with the sketch, a strip of cardstock and ribbon were layered horizontally with foam for dimension.
The flower was stamped, colored and fussy cut. I did not wish to introduce the color green, so used tones of gray for the leaves and stem. The sentiment was stamped and simply added to the top right of the design with foam tape. The inside was lined with white cardstock edged with a border die and then a strip of patterned paper.

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful colour combination and that flower at the bottom is the perfect touch to complement the floral pattern at the side. The black sets off the bold pink just right. Thanks for sharing your talent with us once again at Atlantic Hearts :)

DeleteThis is such a perfect shade of pink - and the patterned paper is sweet! And using grey rather than green was a wonderful choice! Thanks for playing along with us at Atlantic Hearts! ~Amber
ReplyDeleteI like pink with black and with brown. Both look so sophisticated, and your card is no exception. I love the splotch of black. It reminds me that girls can be feminine and still get their hands dirty!
ReplyDeleteMy hardly-ever-use color is purple, but it always turns out pretty when I do. Anyhow, thanks for joining us for our Birthday Card challenge at Cut it Up!

Pink isn't my favorite color either, but it does look lovely and soothing on a card. Nice to have paper that matches your flower, Melanie, and it made for a very cohesive and beautiful card!
